Aldeasa - Jordan Airport Duty Free Shops - Amman

Aldeasa Jordan Airports Duty Free Shops posted a stunning +60% increase in arrivals sales at Amman Queen Alia International Airport, following the opening of two new 145sq m arrivals shops at the end of September, one in each terminal.

Chief operating office Pedro Castro described the openings and subsequent results as the highlight of the year for Aldeasa’s operation in Jordan.

“We will end this year above 2002 and over budget,” he told The Moodie Report. August was a record sales month since the Spanish company won the concession to operate the duty free business at Amman, Aqaba and Marka airports in 2002.

departures terminal in mid-October. “In spite of the decrease in the humanitarian flights to Iraq, it has continued performing well at +25% for the whole year,” said Castro. Aqaba has a new shop, which will be refurbished in 2004. Sales are currently up by +120% on the same period last year.
