The company was established by Shakeeb Khirfan in 1935, the year of which he started
his professional life in trading; which was mainly grains and pulses in addition to flour.
Were he used to purchase agricultural crops from farmers, storing and selling as a wholesaler.
In 1960, Shakeeb's eldest son "Marwan" joinéd the business alongside his father, to further grow the business in seeking new opportunities.
In 1970, Shakeeb's son "Ghassan" joined the business which allowed new product lines to be introduced to the business and therefore, taking the advantage of new opportunities. The new product lines that were added to the business were soft drinks, canned food, edible oil, herbs and pulses.

After Hassan passed away, in 1976, Shakeeb's third son "Nader" joined the business as

well. Diversification continued at a slow pace during the following years as the new management studied the market and tried to stay ahead of the changes in the industry. During the early 1980's, the company continued to expand its offerings; such as retail grocery items, beverages, and food service products.

In 1982, both of Shakeeb's sons Bassam and Yahya joined the business as well alongside their brothers. During this period a new soft drink was introduced to the Jordanian market called "VIVA". During the first 3 years after launching it acquired 30% of the market share in Jordan and a 50% market share of the Jordanian market thereafter. This success got the attention of Pepsi Co. to approach our company in 1990 to offer us the bottling license for cans and PET units. Offer was accepted.

In August 1993, Coca Cola Company had a better approach. It was an exclusive offer for all packages. This was an approximately $ 35 million worth project. In 1997, Coca Cola international decided to take over and buy all their licensed bottling companies in the Middle East and other areas including our Coca Cola Company in Jordan.

The company utilized all of its capabilities from experience, strong management skills, and their business reputation to restructure under a new management and developing new business opportunities. The company was renamed to be "Shakeeb Khirfan Group for Trading, Investment & Industry (SKG)". SKG became a well-known trade mark in Jordan, Middle east, and worldwide.This reputation led to the expansion of SKG business through opening another branch in Wadi Al - Rimam / Yarmouk Street. Where the company's management was located in Shmeisani and was relocated later with all its business operations in the company's headquarter (warehouse) in Al - Hizam Al- Da'ery / Abu Alanda; with an area of 25,000 meter square, having 11,500 meter square warehouses in addition to offices covering the area of 600 meter square. As for Shmeisani offices, are left to run partner's operations and other operations such as real estate and others.

In 1996, the Jordanian government released the ban on importing main commodities to the private sector. Therefore, the company has expanded their activities to deal with all foodstuff product commodities such as, (rice, sugar, coffee...etc.), pulses, grains, canned food, nuts, edible oils, dairy products, spices....etc., and other fast moving items.
